Tiger Supercat Escort quick rack steering rack cradle group buy
#1
Hi to anyone reading this.

Sorry this is my first post and is not intended to be a for sale although it is.. sorry to the mods and hopefully you understand. Maybe even put this post in the for sale section?

OK, so I currently own a Southways Auto Tiger Supercat and don't like the Cortina steering rack which I find very slow. After extensive Google work it seems the Cortina rack is no longer available as a quick rack option.
The next best thing seems to be to use the Escort steering racks which come with plenty of ratio options. Having spoken to Southways Richard explained he had supplied kits in the past to utilise the Escort rack. Problem is they are currently really busy so making one kit is not a practical option.

Richard says he can make 5 cradles up as a minimum batch run of which I've said I'll take all 5 and just ebay the spare ones for a little extra to cover my ebay fees.

The better option would be if we could have a small group buy for the cradles which are £80 each.

Once you have the cradle it's a case of buying a rack, some track rod extenders and 2 clamps all of which can be bought off the shelf from your preferred supplier. My guess is about another £35 plus rack which can be bought for £109.50 http://www.rallydesign.co.uk/product_inf...ts_id=7310 you can also see the clamps on this gage for £21.50

Picture below shows the cradle bolted to the chassis with the steering rack clamped to the cradle.

Please post up your interest, like I say 5 will be ordered so the first 4 people to say they want a cradle get first refusal.

I believe the cradles are correct for the E1 and Supercat variants.

Hope this is of interest
Paul

Be very careful if you bolt this cradle in, I did and squashed the chassis rail. Finished up taking it out again having a bar welded to bottom of chassis rail and having cradle welded in.

Thanks for the advice. Sounds like it makes sense to just weld it in place then.

If you want to bolt it in place all you need is a tube spacerto go through the box section with a plate on the outside with the cradle part on the other side . The plate will spread the load when you tighten up the bolt .
